Constitution Week Celebration: Let your voice be heard

September 16, 2012

In celebration of the 225th anniversary of the signingImage of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787, we welcome the Baker community to participate in a week long online forum looking at recent attempts to alter one of our “charters of freedom.”    In reality, the process to amend the constitution is quite daunting, as seen by the numbers:

  • Over 11,500 resolutions to amend the constitution have been introduced in congress, including more than 75 this session
  • 6 amendment resolutions approved by congress were never ratified by ¾ of the states
  • 27 (or about 0.2%) of the amendment resolutions were ratified and added to the constitution

Over the next week, we hope you will join the debate by providing your thoughts on the following resolutions currently before the 112th congress:

Can the Baker community get the 2/3 votes needed to send the amendments to the states for consideration?
