Every library has to remove books from the collections. Some are just worn out, others no longer serve a changing curriculum. Others were fine books when they were written, but new information has come to light and the older books have become dated.
We have also been the recipients of some lovely gifts. The donors are often anxious to clean out their libraries as they move or as their parents move and they no longer have the luxury of being surrounded by their old friends. They’re happy to let us add what is appropriate to the collection and to give the rest away to students and faculty who will enjoy them.
Right now on the free book shelves by the elevator on the second floor of the library, we have some elderly french literature, in need of tender care, a lot of political science and international relations books, some whodunnits and contemporary novels.
We put out new books almost every week, so stop by and see if there is something for you. ~~ krb
