Christmas in the Library

December 7, 2010

The library Christmas tree was elegantly decorated by the good folks from Mungano. Come by and admire their work. Thank you, Mungano.

We’ve gathered some of the Christmas-related books or books with well-known Christmas passages at the circulation desk for people to look through and check out. Most of them are classics:

  • Clement Moore’s Visit from St. Nicholas
  • Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol & Christmas Stories
  • Chinua Achebe’s poem “Christmas in Biafra”
  • Dylan Thomas, reading A Child’s Christmas in Wales
  • T.S. Eliot’s “The Cultivation of Christmas Trees”
  • A collection of poems called American Christmas includes:
To a Young Wretch, by Robert Frost
    Christmas Eve, by Langston Hughes
    Christ’s birthday, by Emily Dickinson
The Lame Shepherd by Katharine Lee Bates
Christmas Eve Under Hooker’s Statue, by Robert Lowell
  • Giancarlo Menotti’s, Amahl and the Night Visitors
  • And many more…
